This was one of my most painful chases—the worst kind of Island Roulette. I obsessed for days about which island would be the bullseye. I finally chose New Providence Island... and missed the cyclone's intense inner core by a hair. (I mean a couple of miles, maybe.) Winds at my location were well over hurricane force and very destructive—palm trees around the hotel snapped off mid-trunk. But, I missed the inner eyewall and this therefore counts as a (stinging) bust. Grrrr.
